Mashonaland based retailers and wholesalers scooped various prizes at an Awards ceremony organized by the Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers on Friday in Harare.
The ceremony dubbed the CZR Mashonaland Retailers and Wholesalers Annual Awards, attracted the sectors’ leaders and practitioners as they gathered to celebrate the outstanding contributors.
The awards of excellence are meant to celebrate and honor business players in the retail and wholesale sector for their contribution to national development, reviving and supporting local industry as well as production of affordable home grown quality products.
Guest of honour at the event, the Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Province, Miriam Chikukwa urged retailers and wholesalers to desist from manipulating customers through the three tier pricing system and baseless price hikes.
CZR President, Mr Denford Mutashu said Retailers and wholesalers are major contributors to economic development hence the need for them to exert their energies on industry revival, building consumer confidence and promoting intra-trade in Zimbabwe.
“The responsibility to build or destroy the country is ours all. Let us focus our energies on industry revival, building consumer confidence, creating an investor friendly environment for Mashonaland, Harare and the country at large. Let’s promote intra-trade. Manufacturers in Mashonaland & Harare should be ‘exporting ‘goods to the rest of the other provinces in the country and vice-versa”
Simrac Retailers and Wholesalers from Kadoma scooped the Mashonaland Retailer of the Year Award, while Horizon Ivato from Harare won the Most Innovative Retailer of the Year award.
